As
the Senior Editor of the Sports Professionals, Inc. (SPI)
Research and Publishing Division, Cindy Bent is equipped
with both the skills as a writer and interviewer, but
also trained as a competitive athlete. She came to SPI
as a seasoned freelance writer based out of central Ohio,
who had written numerous stories on athletes success,
both on and off the field. With over 15 years of business
magazine, corporate writing, and publishing experience,
she is well equipped to provide stories and books of
both interest to pro players, but that are practically
based with real examples of how to make it in non athletic
careers.
Cindy's work encompasses writing for publishing arms including Columbus
Business First, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Executive Report Magazine,
and National Public Radio (NPR), as well as numerous athletic and corporate
non-profit clients. At SPI, Cindy is responsible for overseeing all
research and publishing work, including SPI's most recent 2003 projects:
Winning Career Moves - Football. A book about Professional football
players who have successfully transitioned from the playing field to
the board room. She also edited three SPI Career Pamphlets written exclusively
for transitioning pro athletes:

As a former student athlete in fencing, Cindy qualified and competed
on the US Olympic Team.
In addition to supporting SPI research and publishing
projects, she is currently the editor of American Fencing
Magazine and serves as the public relations officer for the United States
Fencing
Association.
