Client Focus Areas - Career Transition

If you are an athlete and you are fuzzy on what you want to do with your life outside of sports, you are not alone. The fact is that most athletes do not know the answer to that question while they are still playing, and over 50%, still do not know the answer after they finish the game. Even non-athletes struggle to find meaningful work in their lives. Did you know that the average working American adult changes jobs or careers seven times in their life time. And only four out of ten Americans are working in the profession they received a college degree in. The fact is that finding the right career fit for all of us is a journey. It takes time and the chance to experience work in a variety of settings. So try to relax.

But for most professional athletes who have been playing their sport for over twenty years, playing ball is almost all that you know about work, and all of life references back to the world of competing on the field. So unless you have been

taking advantage of your college outplacement office, networking with old college buddies who are on the fast track, or utilizing your league player development programs (ie. off season internships & financial education), you will be actually starting behind the rest of the population. Because while you have been playing ball, they have been working, and figuring out who they want to be when they grow up. And this is where we can help you at Sports Professionals, Inc.

Sports Professionals Career Transition Workshops are designed to help you understand who you are outside of sports, and to identify jobs (or businesses) that match your interests and skills.
